Getting the RSVP from the Guests

In the event of insufficient time gap, many of the guests may not be able to make adjustments with their existing schedule and may fail to attend the baby shower.


Further, you may not give sufficient time to the guests to RSVP (i.e. confirm their attendance). Not all people are well organised in this world and many people may not even RSVP your invitation.

As such, it is better to give your prospective guests enough time so as to enable them to manage their lengthy to-do list.You must also not forget one important point in RSVP.

Some people think, or just assume things, that if you do not RSVP, that means you aren’t attending. That is not correct technically.RSVP does not mean (even in the French language from where it is derived) that someone is going to attend. It simply means - Please get back to me on this.

So, the issue that is explained here is - you should not conclude that people who have not RSVPied would not actually attend the function. Any such decision will turn out to be a disastrous one when the person or persons really turn up for the occasion.

You may come across many people who will simply show up, and when you say that you assumed they weren’t coming because they did not “RSVP”, they may frown at you as RSVP, itself, doesn’t mean Yes or No.

It just means - please respond. No doubt that RSVP is a polite way of reply to an invitation and is expected from people for indicating their attendance.But, like ‘a thing of beauty’, politeness also lies ‘in the eyes of the beholder’.

The people who haven’t invested several days of their time and energy in putting up a memorable baby shower together may not realize how impolite they are being by just showing up, unannounced. So how do you solve this problem?
